Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan recently stated that conditions are becoming favorable for the permanent reunification of Libya’s competing eastern and western governments. Following a meeting in Istanbul with regional and European representatives, including Egypt, Fidan emphasized that the integration of separate military factions into a single national army is a critical requirement for stability. While Turkey previously supported the UN-recognized government in Tripoli during the country's protracted conflict, Ankara has recently worked to improve diplomatic ties with eastern leadership. Fidan expressed optimism that the two sides are moving closer to a unified command structure, which he identified as a fundamental pillar for achieving national unity in Libya.
