Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi has declared that the government has successfully gathered all stray animals across Turkey. According to reports from the state-run Anadolu news agency, these animals have been relocated to either municipal shelters or designated natural habitats. Çiftçi confirmed during a television interview that the final phase of this operation concluded on October 21 in Diyarbakır. The initiative, which initially targeted 51 provinces, was expanded to include all 30 metropolitan areas by August. This government-led effort has faced significant opposition from various animal welfare organizations throughout its implementation. Officials maintain that the necessary infrastructure, including new shelters and living spaces, has been fully established to accommodate the animals removed from public streets.
