According to data from Uzhydromet, Uzbekistan experienced its second-hottest summer on record in 2026, continuing a long-term warming trend. August was particularly notable, with average temperatures across the country significantly exceeding historical norms, marking it as the hottest August since meteorological observations began. While maximum heat peaks in July reached between 46 and 50 degrees Celsius in southern and desert areas, August saw persistent high temperatures and minimal precipitation. Most regions reported little to no rainfall throughout the month, with only isolated mountainous areas receiving minor amounts. The seasonal average temperature surpassed typical values by up to 2.6 degrees. Although daily maximums did not consistently break all-time records, the sustained heat throughout the summer months confirms a clear pattern of rising temperatures across the nation.
