The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club is preparing for a significant transformation as it celebrates its golden jubilee. Established in 1976 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the institution has evolved from a simple riding facility into a prominent venue for Arabian horse racing, which officially commenced in 1991. To mark this half-century milestone, the club is embarking on an extensive redevelopment initiative. The primary focus of this expansion is the Al Khail Square project, which was introduced in December 2025 by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. This ambitious master plan aims to redefine the future of horse racing in the region, moving beyond the traditional dominance of the Meydan Racecourse to establish a distinct and modern identity for the Abu Dhabi venue.
