A 51-year-old lorry driver, Irwan Bin Mohamed Ibrahim, has received a 23-month prison sentence for a traffic accident that resulted in severe, permanent injuries to a taxi driver. The incident occurred on Nicoll Avenue, where the defendant drove through a red light. The victim, 56-year-old Lim Boon Hu, passed away two years following the collision, although his death was not explicitly linked to the crash injuries. Irwan pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing grievous hurt and violating the Motor Vehicles Act. In addition to his incarceration, the court imposed an eight-year ban on his driving privileges, effective upon his release from prison. An additional charge regarding the unauthorized use of the vehicle was also factored into the final sentencing decision.
