The Philippine Department of Transportation has confirmed that the number of deaths resulting from the MV June Aster maritime fire off the coast of Coron, Palawan, has climbed to 35. Authorities reported that 30 additional bodies were recovered from the wreckage on Friday evening. Current data from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime Industry Authority indicates that 54 individuals are still missing, while 43 passengers and crew members have been rescued. Official manifest records show that 115 passengers and 17 crew members were on board the vessel when the incident occurred. Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez stated that the fire, which erupted while the ferry was at sea, has been brought under control by emergency responders.
