Arnaud Cauchois, the Asian Development Bank's Country Director for Nepal, announced that the nation needs 74 billion dollars between 2025 and 2035 to meet its NDC 3.0 climate targets. Speaking at a national conference, Cauchois highlighted that achieving these goals relies heavily on international support, policy reform, and institutional strengthening. The ADB plans to launch a 'Green and Resilient Financing Facility' to help convert climate priorities into viable investment projects. While Nepal contributes minimally to global emissions, it faces significant climate-related disasters, including floods and landslides. Consequently, the ADB is prioritizing climate finance and disaster resilience, emphasizing that reconstruction efforts must focus on building stronger, safer infrastructure. Cauchois stressed that success should be evaluated by tangible impacts on local communities rather than just policy declarations, urging collaboration between the government, private sector, and international partners to address regional climate risks.
