A panel of facilitators from the African Union has formally requested that all factions involved in the conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo strictly respect existing ceasefire agreements. Following recent discussions held in Goma, a city currently under the control of M23 rebels, the delegation emphasized that achieving sustainable stability necessitates genuine political dialogue. The representatives, led by former Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde, encouraged all conflicting parties to participate sincerely in the Doha peace process. Furthermore, the panel stressed the importance of maintaining full cooperation with established mechanisms designed to monitor the ceasefire. These diplomatic efforts aim to de-escalate the ongoing violence and foster a path toward long-term resolution in the region.
