Starting November 15, municipal authorities in Beijing will enforce a comprehensive prohibition on the storage, possession, and transport of drones within the city. This policy expands upon existing restrictions that had already outlawed the commercial sale of unmanned aerial vehicles earlier this year. Under the new mandate, residents must relocate their equipment outside city limits or dispose of them entirely to avoid potential confiscation. Officials stated that these stringent measures are necessary to bolster airspace security across the capital. The decision follows a fatal incident in June involving a small aircraft collision with a major skyscraper, which prompted heightened safety concerns. While drone owners were previously permitted to keep registered devices, the updated regulations now mandate their complete removal from the metropolitan area to ensure public safety and prevent unauthorized flight activity.
