A Singaporean catering business, Gourmetz, has been ordered to pay a S$13,000 penalty following a gastroenteritis outbreak at River Valley Primary School. In January 2026, 45 pupils fell ill after consuming meals provided by the company, with one child requiring hospital treatment before making a full recovery. Investigations conducted by the Singapore Food Agency and the Communicable Diseases Agency revealed significant hygiene failures at the firm's facility, including the use of unsanitary storage equipment. Subsequent inspections uncovered additional violations related to improper food storage and inaccurate product labeling. The company entered a guilty plea to three charges brought against it regarding these safety breaches.
