A maritime accident involving two passenger vessels occurred early Sunday morning at Gold Coast Creek in the Kombo Itindi Subdivision of Cameroon. The collision, which took place on a waterway frequently used for travel between Cameroon and Nigeria, resulted in at least nine confirmed deaths. Local reports indicate that one of the victims was an eight-year-old child. According to witnesses and security personnel, the incident happened at a bend in the creek where early morning visibility was limited. The vessels involved included a 250-horsepower boat originating from Ikang, Nigeria, and a smaller 75-horsepower speedboat that had departed from Ekondo Titi, Cameroon. Local residents assisted in recovering the bodies from the water following the impact.
