The Court of Appeal has rescheduled the Quo Warranto application concerning the parliamentary eligibility of Jaffna District MP Archchuna Ramanathan. Proceedings were delayed until December 16, 2026, due to the bench not being properly constituted during the recent hearing. Additionally, the court was notified that the MP is in the process of securing new legal representation, following the departure of his previous attorney, Senani Dayaratne. The case, initiated by petitioner Oshala Herath, will be heard by Justices Mayadunne Corea and Mahen Gopallawa upon its resumption. The legal challenge seeks to determine whether Archchuna Ramanathan maintains the necessary qualifications to continue serving as a member of the legislature.
