During the ninth World Investment Forum held in Doha, officials from the Gulf Co-operation Council emphasized the necessity of deepening regional economic integration. The ministers proposed a shift in strategy, moving away from a primary focus on attracting foreign capital toward the creation of tangible investment corridors and localized manufacturing capabilities. By coordinating industrial policies and prioritizing the replacement of imports with domestic goods, the GCC aims to strengthen internal trade and market connectivity. Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, highlighted that governments must adopt a more proactive stance by identifying investment prospects that align with specific market demands. This collaborative approach is intended to foster a more resilient regional economy by leveraging shared business opportunities and reducing reliance on external supply chains.
