During an emergency United Nations Security Council session, representatives from the Gulf Co-operation Council issued a firm condemnation of recent Houthi strikes targeting Saudi Arabia. Speaking for the six-member bloc, Bahrain’s ambassador Jamal Alrowaiei characterized these hostilities as a significant escalation that jeopardizes regional stability. The coalition also expressed grave concern regarding Houthi interference with maritime security, labeling the group's actions a direct provocation to the global community that threatens international shipping lanes and commercial trade. This diplomatic response follows reports that Houthi forces have successfully captured the vital Yemeni port of Mokha. The GCC members emphasized that such actions pose an immediate danger to the safety of crews and the broader security of the region, urging the international community to address these persistent threats to navigation and peace.
