Hong Kong authorities successfully dismantled a major international drug smuggling operation throughout the summer months. Customs officials confiscated approximately 6.1 tonnes of illicit substances, valued at over HK$1.4 billion. During this enforcement campaign, 150 individuals were taken into custody. Officials noted that criminal syndicates specifically targeted students for recruitment during the school break. Wong Ngar-lun, representing the Customs and Excise Department, attributed the success of these operations to effective information sharing with international law enforcement partners, which allowed investigators to disrupt sophisticated and multi-layered trafficking networks operating within the region.
