The High Court in Ipoh has sentenced 46-year-old businessman Liew Wan Wah to 30 years of imprisonment and 24 strokes of the cane. The conviction follows his involvement in trafficking over 77 kilograms of methamphetamine five years ago. Presiding Judge Datuk Abdul Wahab Mohamed determined that the defense failed to establish reasonable doubt regarding the charges. The defendant faced two separate counts of drug trafficking, specifically involving approximately 74.48 kilograms of the substance near the Gopeng Toll Plaza in the Kampar district. The court mandated that the prison sentences for both counts be served concurrently, starting from the date of his initial arrest. The ruling concludes the legal proceedings for the significant narcotics seizure.
