The MTR Corporation has officially notified the police regarding a significant fare evasion incident at Tsim Sha Tsui station. This action follows the circulation of a viral video capturing a group of over 30 individuals bypassing ticket barriers by tailgating behind a single passenger. The footage shows a woman, suspected to be a tour guide, scanning her card, which allowed a large group to pass through the gate without paying. In response to the public outcry and the lack of staff intervention depicted in the clip, the rail operator has committed to increasing security patrols across its network to prevent similar occurrences. The company emphasized that fare evasion is a serious offense and is currently cooperating with law enforcement to investigate the matter further.
