The Nepalese government has authorized the cross-brand exchange of cooking gas cylinders within the Kathmandu Valley to mitigate supply issues caused by recent flooding. Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav issued the directive to ensure residents can access fuel regardless of their usual supplier. Under this temporary policy, consumers may trade their empty cylinders for those of any available brand at a uniform price. The Nepal Oil Corporation has been tasked with overseeing this process to prevent artificial scarcity and ensure market stability. This measure is intended to provide immediate relief to households struggling with distribution disruptions. Authorities have also issued a warning that strict action will be taken against any entities found to be deliberately creating shortages during this period of logistical difficulty.
