The Kazakh government is set to renew a bilateral agreement with Russia concerning the supply of oil and petroleum products. During a recent legislative session, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov highlighted the economic advantages of this arrangement, noting that it saves the nation approximately 30 billion tenge. By maintaining duty-free imports, Kazakhstan can effectively address domestic fuel shortages, particularly for diesel, without incurring additional customs costs. Lawmakers have reviewed the protocol in two readings, confirming the strategic importance of these imports for national energy stability. This agreement ensures that Kazakhstan avoids the financial burden of customs duties that would otherwise apply to Russian fuel imports, thereby stabilizing the local market supply chain.
