The Sri Lankan Rupee recorded a further depreciation against the US Dollar across several major commercial banks on October 7. Data from institutions such as Seylan Bank, NDB Bank, People’s Bank, and Commercial Bank indicate a consistent rise in both buying and selling rates compared to the previous day. For instance, Seylan Bank adjusted its buying rate to Rs. 326.60 and its selling rate to Rs. 335.80. Similarly, People’s Bank reported an increase in the buying rate to Rs. 326.92 and the selling rate to Rs. 335.03. Other financial institutions, including NDB Bank and Commercial Bank, also reflected this upward trend in currency exchange values. This shift highlights a continued weakening of the local currency in the current market environment.
