Kazakhstan has experienced a decrease in food costs for the second month in a row, as confirmed during a government session led by National Economy Minister Serik Zhumangarin. Data from the Ministry of Trade indicates that the deceleration in inflation is largely driven by stable prices for essential food items. While these goods saw an 8 percent price hike during the same timeframe last year, the increase has been limited to approximately 2 percent since the start of this year. Recent weekly data highlights notable price drops for sugar, onions, apples, and carrots, alongside reductions for rice and lamb. Meanwhile, staples such as bread, pasta, and tea have maintained steady pricing. Officials noted that while overall food inflation is slowing, seasonal factors are beginning to exert upward pressure on the cost of certain vegetable varieties as temperatures drop.
