Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was recently restored as the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) via a court ruling, has publicly asserted that Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu does not qualify as a political prisoner. During an interview with Euronews Turkish, Kılıçdaroğlu maintained that the legal challenges facing the mayor are distinct from his political activities and presidential aspirations. While Kılıçdaroğlu noted that he supported İmamoğlu during the party's primary selection process, he emphasized that public officials must remain transparent and accountable for their financial management. Despite his stance on the nature of the mayor's incarceration, Kılıçdaroğlu suggested that a partnership between their respective political factions remains a possibility should İmamoğlu successfully secure a bid for the presidency.
