The provincial administration of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has officially authorized a 15 percent monthly stipend increase for House Officers and Trainee Medical Officers working within public and autonomous healthcare facilities. This adjustment, confirmed by the provincial Finance Department on September 9, follows a cabinet decision from mid-August and is retroactively applicable from July 1. Furthermore, the policy includes a provision for an additional five percent annual increment based on current payment levels. Despite this government action, local medical professionals have voiced dissatisfaction, arguing that the raise is insufficient to combat current inflationary pressures. Consequently, the medical community continues to advocate for a 30 percent increase and maintains its backing for the industrial action currently being staged by trainee doctors and house officers across the province.
