Recent flooding and subsequent slope instability have triggered a major landslide on the Prithvi Highway, necessitating the diversion of freight vehicles to the Tribhuvan Highway. This logistical shift has severely hampered the distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas to the capital. Currently, only 18,259 cylinders are being supplied by nine companies, falling drastically short of the daily requirement of 100,000 cylinders for the Kathmandu valley. In response to the growing scarcity, Supplies Minister Gauri Yadav has issued a warning, stating that the government will take firm measures against any individuals or entities found hoarding gas supplies during this period of restricted availability.
