As of late August, the permanent disposal facility designated for radioactive waste from Lynas Malaysia has reached 77 percent completion. Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang confirmed that approximately 1.45 million metric tonnes of Water Leach Purification waste have already been relocated to the site. Construction of four primary disposal cells is finished, and the facility is currently receiving Auto Leach Residue waste. Official monitoring by the Atomic Energy Department indicates that radiation levels surrounding the site remain within the safety limits mandated by the Atomic Energy Licensing Act of 1984. These safety readings are well below the annual threshold for radiation workers, ensuring compliance as the project moves toward its 2031 deadline.
