American semiconductor manufacturer Micron has revealed plans to distribute substantial bonuses to its direct labor force in Taiwan for the 2026 fiscal year. These payments, ranging from 35 to 68 months of salary, are intended to reward staff for an outstanding operational period. The compensation package includes cash and equity, with entry-level engineers expected to receive an average total value of approximately NT$3.4 million. The initiative covers various roles, including technicians and shift engineers, impacting a significant portion of the company's 15,000 local employees. This financial decision follows recent labor tensions in Taiwan, where unions representing a majority of the workforce had previously indicated a willingness to strike. Globally, the bonus program is set to benefit over 60,000 Micron staff members as the company acknowledges their contributions to its recent success.
