The OSCE conducted a five-day training program in Tashkent from October 5 to 9, 2026, aimed at enhancing the detection of illicit weapons, ammunition, and explosives. Fifteen customs and border officials from five Central Asian nations participated in the event at the National Canine Centre of Uzbekistan. The curriculum covered practical search techniques, scent dynamics, and canine health management. Beyond technical skills, the initiative sought to harmonize standard operating procedures and foster cross-border intelligence sharing among regional agencies. Supported by international funding from Germany, Sweden, the United States, Finland, and France, the project aims to bolster regional security resilience. Officials highlighted the importance of continued cooperation and the exchange of expertise to effectively address shared border threats and strengthen the capabilities of K9 units across the region.
