The Nepali Army has confirmed that a dry landslide obstructed the Budhigandaki River in the upper Gorkha region, resulting in a subsequent flash flood. According to reports provided to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the blockage occurred on Sunday morning in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3. The river flow was temporarily halted by debris before the obstruction gave way, releasing a surge of silt-heavy water downstream. Military officials at the Number 3 Brigade Headquarters were alerted to the situation early Sunday morning. A reconnaissance unit from the Rudradhwaj Battalion was deployed from the Bangsingh Security Post to investigate the area. The team verified that a dry landslide had indeed occurred near Philim, which served as the primary cause for the river blockage and the resulting flood conditions in the vicinity.
