Freelance photographer Mahmoud Abu Hamda has been honored with the photography prize at the Bayeux war correspondents awards for his documentation of the conflict in Gaza. His submission, titled "What War Leaves Behind," also secured the Public’s Choice award. Although unable to attend the ceremony in France, Hamda expressed in a video message that his primary goal was to share the realities of Gaza beyond its borders. The reportage provides a visual account of the daily struggles faced by residents following the start of the Israeli military offensive. Other major accolades at the event were presented to international media organizations, including The Washington Post, NPR, and CNN, for their respective coverage of conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and the West Bank.
