Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated that electricity load-shedding across Pakistan should not exceed two hours daily. During a high-level review meeting regarding national power management, the Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the current frequency of power cuts in various urban centers. Officials briefed the Prime Minister on the factors contributing to the energy deficit, citing regional instability near the Strait of Hormuz and logistical challenges that have hindered the delivery of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas. These supply chain disruptions have led to a decline in total electricity generation, forcing authorities to implement load management strategies to stabilize the grid. In response, the Prime Minister issued directives to prioritize efficient power distribution while accounting for both immediate regional constraints and long-term energy requirements to minimize inconvenience for the public.
