The Punjab Home Department has implemented Section 144 across the province to ensure public order as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi prepares to visit Lahore. The provincial administration has prohibited public gatherings, processions, and the assembly of five or more individuals in open spaces, on roads, and at highways. Furthermore, the display of weapons and the promotion of unauthorized demonstrations are strictly forbidden under these new measures. Authorities specified that these restrictions do not extend to religious services, funerals, weddings, or the operations of government institutions and judicial bodies. This decision follows the announcement of protest plans by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, prompting the provincial government to restrict public movement to maintain stability throughout the region.
