Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, the Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development for Sarawak, has identified 680 schools across the state as unsafe for use. These facilities, currently classified under Scale 6 and 7, require significant financial investment to address their dilapidated state. During his address at the State Legislative Assembly, Sagah provided an update on ongoing remediation efforts. He noted that 86 projects have been finalized using a RM1 billion advance payment, with another 54 currently in progress. Additionally, regarding the 'Projek Rakyat' initiative, half of the 12 designated school projects have reached completion, while the rest remain in the pre-construction or implementation phases. The minister emphasized the necessity of these upgrades to ensure the safety and functionality of educational infrastructure throughout the region.
