A Singaporean couple has received significant prison sentences following the death of their eight-month-old son, Trevor Neo. The father, Neo Jia Ming, was handed a 16-year term, while the mother, Chloe Gan Ci Xuan, was sentenced to 15 years and three months. Both parents entered guilty pleas earlier this month regarding the physical abuse that led to the infant's passing in September 2024. Family members, including the child's grandmother and aunt, expressed profound grief and shock, describing the victim as an affectionate baby who frequently sought comfort. The case, heard at the Singapore High Court, revealed that the child suffered from repeated acts of violence, including shaking and smothering, at the hands of his parents. The tragedy has left the extended family struggling to reconcile the boy's gentle nature with the extreme cruelty he endured within his own home.
