Official statistics indicate that the total volume of international individuals arriving in South Korea for educational or training purposes exceeded 500,000 in the previous year. This figure represents a significant growth, marking a sixfold increase compared to the data recorded four years prior. According to information released by the Korea Tourism Organization, these students comprised approximately 2.7 percent of the 18.94 million total foreign arrivals in the country. Analysts attribute this substantial rise in academic migration to the widespread international interest in South Korean popular culture. The data was disclosed by lawmaker Jin Sun-mee, highlighting a notable shift in the demographic composition of visitors entering the nation for specialized learning opportunities.
