The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration announced that the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to diminish in intensity starting Friday, September 11. While regions such as Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan may still receive significant rainfall between 50 and 100 millimeters, other areas like Metro Manila and Western Visayas should see more frequent sunny intervals. Meteorologists are also tracking a low-pressure area located 900 kilometers west of Luzon, which is projected to move toward Vietnam and potentially draw the monsoon away from the country. A second low-pressure system situated further east is currently being monitored for its potential development, though it remains at a low probability of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next day. Residents are advised to monitor official updates as weather conditions evolve over the weekend.
