The Taiwan Academy in Houston has unveiled a comprehensive program of artistic and cultural activities scheduled from September through November. Titled "Taiwanese Sensibility in Texas," the initiative aims to highlight Taiwanese creative expression through film screenings, musical performances, and literary discussions. Notable events include a retrospective of acclaimed cinema by directors such as Ang Lee and Hou Hsiao-hsien, as well as a lecture by drag performer Nymphia Wind at the Museum of Fine Arts. Furthermore, jazz musician Yuhan Su and pianist Lu Yi-chih are slated to perform at various local venues and universities. The program also features literary engagements with author Gigi L. Leung. By collaborating with regional institutions, the academy seeks to celebrate Taiwan's cultural identity and values regarding gender equality within Houston, a city home to a significant population of Taiwanese descent.
