Turkey’s Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, has initiated criminal proceedings against three opposition members of parliament. This legal move follows accusations involving her father, Hasan Özdemir, regarding transactions in investment funds totaling 830 million lira, equivalent to approximately 17 million dollars. The lawmakers, Ümit Özlale, Cemal Enginyurt, and Ali Mahir Başarır, had questioned whether the minister's family profited from funds currently embroiled in a liquidity crisis that has blocked investor access to capital. Specifically, allegations suggested that a cabinet member utilized a relative's account to significantly increase their holdings before withdrawing funds just prior to the market collapse. Minister Göktaş has formally rejected these claims, asserting that neither she nor her relatives were involved in the reported financial activities.
