The United States government has authorized the sale of 500 Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles to Ukraine, valued at approximately 2.1 billion dollars. This decision follows recent diplomatic friction between President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding military aid and energy infrastructure policies. Despite the approval, the missiles are not expected to reach Kyiv until the early 2030s, as they have yet to be manufactured. The procurement is being financed through the US JUMPSTART program, utilizing contributions from Germany, Canada, and Norway, alongside European Union loan funds. While this move signals continued American support for Ukrainian defensive capabilities, analysts note it does not necessarily indicate a fundamental shift in the current administration's broader geopolitical strategy toward the ongoing conflict with Russia.
