Tensions in Yemen have intensified following a series of Houthi strikes on oil infrastructure, which prompted a military response from Saudi Arabia. This surge in violence follows the collapse of a long-standing ceasefire between the Houthis and the Saudi-supported administration. Recent Houthi military maneuvers near the Bab al-Mandab strait have raised concerns regarding global oil transit routes, particularly as this passage gains strategic importance. While the extent of Iranian influence on Houthi operations remains a subject of debate among experts, US officials have publicly attributed the instability to Tehran's involvement. The renewed hostilities have resulted in over 500 fatalities, primarily among those engaged in combat, marking a significant deterioration in the regional security situation.
