As the anniversary of the September 11 attacks approaches, observers are drawing parallels between the current administration's approach toward Iran and the protracted military engagements that defined the post-9/11 era. The ongoing tensions and strategic maneuvers directed at Tehran have prompted discussions regarding whether the United States is entering another cycle of long-term regional conflict reminiscent of the so-called forever wars that followed the 2001 terrorist attacks. These comparisons highlight concerns over the potential for sustained military involvement in the Middle East, echoing historical patterns of interventionism that have characterized American foreign policy for over two decades.
