Law enforcement officials in Tacloban City initiated a search and recovery mission following reports of an unidentified individual falling from the San Juanico Bridge. The event occurred early Sunday morning, September 13, 2026, when members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion observed a person dropping from the structure. The individual, estimated to be in his mid-20s, was dressed in a black sweatshirt and shorts. Local police confirmed the incident after arriving at the scene in Barangay 97 Cabalawan. To facilitate the search, authorities have coordinated with the Philippine Coast Guard, the PNP Maritime Group, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and local rescue units. These agencies are currently working together to locate the missing person in the waters below the bridge.
