The Bangladeshi government is launching a recruitment drive for 5,000 doctors to mitigate staffing deficits within public healthcare facilities. This hiring process will be managed by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission via a specialized Civil Service examination. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has formally requested the commission to proceed with these appointments. The planned intake includes 4,700 medical officers or assistant surgeons, alongside 300 dental surgeons. This recruitment effort aligns with the government's broader objective to bolster the national health sector's capacity, as highlighted during the recent fiscal budget presentation for the 2026–27 period. The process is commencing concurrently with the appointment of a new head for the Public Service Commission.
