With the Chuseok holiday approaching from September 24 to 27, many South Koreans are opting for short domestic trips rather than long-distance travel. Data from the travel platform Agoda indicates a 160 percent increase in searches for local destinations compared to two weeks prior. The trend is driven by the four-day break, more comfortable autumn temperatures, and a variety of seasonal festivals taking place across the country. Sokcho in Gangwon Province has emerged as a particularly popular choice for travelers seeking a combination of mountain hiking and hot spring relaxation during the festive period.
