Chinese authorities have announced sixteen new initiatives to improve the operational environment for international businesses and professionals within the Hainan Free Trade Port. These updates include streamlined work and residency permits for foreign nationals and authorization for overseas-licensed physicians to practice clinically in the region for up to three years. The policies also target the energy sector by permitting foreign firms to utilize bonded facilities at liquefied natural gas terminals and supporting future delivery warehouse operations. Additionally, the measures facilitate bonded maintenance, promote offshore trade, and encourage yuan usage in barter transactions. These changes follow significant growth in Hainan's foreign trade and investment during the first three quarters of 2026, reflecting China's ongoing commitment to high-standard economic opening-up and the integration of international commercial practices within its largest free trade zone.
