A collaborative scientific team from China and Nepal has initiated a field expedition to investigate a significant geological disaster impacting both nations. Led by the China University of Geosciences in Beijing in partnership with the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, the mission is scheduled to last approximately 20 days. Departing from Chengdu, Sichuan Province, the researchers plan to examine the disaster's origin point within Nepal, as well as impacted regions located in China and the broader downstream river basin. This cross-border effort aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of the event that occurred on August 26, facilitating a better understanding of the geological risks shared by the two neighboring countries.
