Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church has issued a formal statement highlighting the ongoing discrimination and persecution faced by Christian communities in Palestine. In a letter addressed to Ramzi Khouri, a senior Palestinian official, the Patriarch emphasized the necessity of safeguarding a Christian presence that has persisted for two millennia. The church warned that the marginalization of any religious group threatens the regional social fabric and violates fundamental human dignity. This communication follows reports from the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs regarding systemic restrictions on worship and attacks on religious institutions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Furthermore, the church noted the broader humanitarian crisis, citing recent casualties in the Gaza Strip. Patriarch Porfirije pledged to continue advocating for the protection of these communities and the promotion of peace during upcoming engagements with international political leaders and global institutions.
