Eight Egyptian crew members who were abducted during a pirate attack on a tanker near the coast of Puntland, Somalia, in May have been liberated. The vessel, the MT Eureka, was carrying a total of 22 sailors when it was seized by armed individuals. Following months of negotiations involving Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and officials from Somalia and Yemen, the captives have been secured. The Egyptian embassy in Mogadishu has been tasked with facilitating the sailors' medical assessments and arranging their immediate transportation back to Egypt. Throughout the ordeal, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry maintained regular communication with the families of the crew to provide updates on the progress of the rescue efforts.
