The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades announced that senior commander Izz al-Din Abdul Aziz al-Beik, widely known as Abu Hamza, was killed during an Israeli drone strike in Gaza City on Tuesday. The attack targeted an apartment in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, resulting in the deaths of Abu Hamza and fighter Muhannad Abu Foul, while causing multiple civilian injuries. As a key member of the group's General Military Council, Abu Hamza had previously led the Northern Gaza Brigade and played a significant role in recent defensive operations. Despite the assassination, analysts suggest that Hamas retains a deep leadership structure. Meanwhile, the region continues to face severe humanitarian challenges, with the Government Media Office reporting thousands of ceasefire violations since October 2025. Over 80 percent of Gaza's infrastructure is reported damaged, as displaced residents struggle with winter conditions amidst an ongoing blockade.
