Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed banking and financial entities to broaden credit availability for the agricultural, housing, and small to medium-sized enterprise sectors. During a review session in Islamabad regarding the Access to Finance Plan 2026-28, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of supporting these vital economic areas. The government has established a specific objective to reach Rs2 trillion in agricultural credit by June 2028. This initiative aims to stimulate growth and development across these key industries by improving access to capital. Officials evaluated current progress on existing schemes, including the 'Apna Ghar' housing program, to ensure that financial institutions are effectively meeting the government's strategic goals for economic expansion and sectoral support.
