Mercedes Formula One driver George Russell has conceded that securing the drivers' championship will require a stroke of luck, given the current dominance of his teammate, Kimi Antonelli. Speaking ahead of the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, the British racer emphasized that he remains committed to the competition despite the significant points gap. Russell stated that his primary objective is to enhance his individual performance during each race weekend rather than fixating on the overall standings. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Antonelli, who recently achieved a remarkable victory from the back of the grid at Monza, echoed this sentiment. The Italian driver noted that he is deliberately avoiding discussions regarding the title race to maintain his focus on track performance. Both Mercedes drivers are prioritizing incremental improvements as the season progresses.
